Literature Text

You woke up still sitting at your desk.  ‘Man that was a weird dream.’ you thought back to the dream of being pregnant by Gilbert.  You stood up going over to open your bedroom window when you opened the door.  You stepped on something looking down you saw the pregnancy test remembering that you were really pregnant and that Gilbert was really the father.

“Dang why couldn’t it just be a dream.” you mumbled picking up the test staring at the plus mark.  You dropped the test in the garbage can before changing into your favorite colored shirt and a pair of jeans.  You were lying across your bed since you still had a couple of hours before your classes started.

“Tulip get down here!” you heard your father yell from the living room.  You sighed walking to the living room seeing your father on the phone.

“I made you an appointment with Dr. Dales she was your mother’s doctor when she was pregnant with you.” your father said hanging up the phone.

“When is it?” you asked softly.

“In an hour I want to make sure my little tulip is pregnant.” he said grabbing his keys.

“But I have class.” you mumbled while your father dragged you to his car.

“We’ll get you a doctor’s excuse or something.” he mumbled helping you into the car.  You knew you couldn’t fuss with your father there was no way he was going to let you talk your way out of your appointment.

------------------Doctor’s Office------------------

You were sitting quietly next to your father at the doctor’s office.  You watched while your father looked at pictures of women going through the different stages of labor.  You stared at the pictures knowing that one day nearly nine months from now you would be going through the same steps.

“Aw, so nasty!” your father said closing the book when he saw the picture of the birthing stage of labor.  You smiled slightly because the picture grossed your father out.  It surprised you how even though he was an ER doctor he wasn’t able to hand the pictures of a child being born.

“______ _________ the doctor will see you now.” you heard a nurse call from the front desk.  You sighed before walking to the back room where your doctor was waiting for you.  You smiled at the woman with dark brown hair and light blue eyes.

“Nice to meet you ______ I’m Dr. Dales.” she said with a friendly smile on her face.  You watched as she looked down at your chart.

“Would you be related to Dr. _______ by any chance?” she asked curiously.

“Yes, he’s my dad.  He’s in the waiting for me in the front actually.” you smiled at her.

“I delivered you!  I’ll have to go tell your father hello,” she said with a happy smile on her face, “so why are you here today?”

“My dad wanted me to take a second pregnancy test.  I already store bought test.” you explained to the doctor who opened one of the drawers.

“I see, well often home test aren’t always right.  So normally it’s better to have another taken at a doctor’s office.” Dr. Dales explained as she opened another drawer.

“Okay, there’s a bathroom at the end of the hall.  Fill the cup, I’ll be waiting right here.” Dr. Dales explained handing you a clear white cup and lid.

-----------------Time Skip----------------

You were sitting quietly waiting for Dr. Dales to return with your results.  You were just as nervous just like when you took the at home test.  Every second seemed like minutes, the minutes seemed like hours.  ‘Why did I have to drink so much at the party.’ you thought to yourself as Dr. Dales walked into the room.  Your heart started racing as she looked at the paper in her hand.

‘Aw, crap.’ you thought when you saw a smile the doctor’s face.

“Well looks like your first test was correct, congratulations.  I’ll have my nurse finish fill out the vitamins list for you to take.”

“Thank you.” you mumbled not extremely happy with the test results.

-----------------Time Skip--------------------

After getting your vitamins your father dropped you off to the college in time to catch the last ten minutes of the lecture your professor was giving.  You placed the doctor’s note on your professor’s desk before you walking to your normal seat on side of Ludwig.  You watched as your professor looked at the note surprised then at you.  You could tell he was surprised by what kind of doctor gave you the note.

“So embarrassing.” you mumbled before placing your head on the table.  Ludwig’s bright blue eyes looked at you after class finally dismissed.

“Is everything okay?  Did you go get that thing done?” he asked as he started to save all the notes he took in class for the day.  You sighed sitting up while shaking your head no.

“No, my dad found the test last night so he made me go take one at a doctor’s office and that came out positive too.  Plus my dad wants to meet Gilbert today.” you whimpered to your German friend who sighed.

“I see no wonder you were late.” he said standing up from his chair.

“Luddy,” you said trying your best to suck up to your friend, “can you tell Gilbert to come over?”  You batted your eyelashes trying to make your cutest puppy eyed look.  You really didn’t want to ask Gilbert yourself.

“Sorry I have a club assignment right now but you can find him on the roof right about now.” Ludwig said before leaving you in the room alone.

“Oh lucky me.” you mumbled leaving the room to go up to the roof.  You were scared of heights your whole life which is why you never went to the roof before even though the school turned it into a relaxing study area for students between classes.  Gilbert and his friends would go to the roof to skip classes.

----------------------Rooftop-------------------

“Gilbert?” you called out looking for the bully that you feared.  When you didn’t hear him you walked towards the seating area.  You notice the top of someone’s whitish gray hair.  It was clear to you it had to be Gilbert.  You walked over noticing that he was sleeping.  ‘Dang it.’ you mumbled in your thoughts before gently tapping him.  You were hoping he wasn’t the type who got angry when someone woke them up.

“Gilbert!” you said loudly while tapping him harder waking him from his nap.

“What the hell!” he groaned looking at you with anger.  His crimson red eyes seemed to be on fire.  You felt your body start to shake as he stood up.  You backed away as he reached out to grab your arm.  You closed your eyes waiting for him to push you.

“What do you want idiot?” he groaned you could still hear how tired he was.  You looked at the guy who treated you so cruelly most of your life.

“My… my dad wants to meet you.” you mumbled trying not to make eye contact with him.

“Why the hell would I want meet your dad.” Gilbert said letting go of your arm as he leaned back on bench he was sleeping.

“Gilbert please.” you begged not wanting to return home without him.  You didn’t want your father to over react again.

“I don’t have time for that.” Gilbert said coldly not really caring about what you wanted.

“But…” you started to say until you suddenly felt the urge to throw up.  You ran to a nearby trashcan throwing up.

“I’m going home.” you mumbled to yourself since you were starting feeling sick and felt like skip the rest of your classes for the day.  You knew you could sweet talk your dad into getting one of his fellow doctors to write you an excuse.

You left Gilbert on the roof alone.  You really didn’t care at the moment if your father would be disappoint you didn’t bring Gilbert.  You were walking down the street to the city’s bus stop.  After waiting a few minutes the city bus pulled up.  You got on the busy your stomach still feeling uneasy.  You sat on the back of the bus resting your head the seat in front you.  While waiting for the bus to leave the stop you heard someone sit on the seat across from you.  You glanced up to see Gilbert sitting across from you.

“Don’t think I’m doing this for you.  I just don’t want to hear West’s nagging.” Gilbert said without looking in your direction.

-----------------At Home----------------------

You opened the door to your house Gilbert followed you into the house grumbling something underneath his breath in German.  After hanging up your jacket you walked into the living room where your father was reading a book.  You father looked up seeing you and Gilbert.  Without saying a single word your father stared at Gilbert who simply looked back at him confused.

“Dad, this is Gilbe…” you started to say until your father cut in.

“So you’re the one who deflowered my little tulip.  How many other flowers have you been visiting?  Huh?  You been busy Mr. Bee?!” your father yelled at Gilbert who looked at him like he was crazy.

‘Aw crap here he goes with the flowers and bees again.’ you thought.  When you were younger and your parents decided it was time for you to have ‘the talk’ your father used flowers and bees because he couldn’t handle telling you the real details.  Luckily for you your mother was able to force him out the room before he could completely you confused about what sex really was.

You watched as your father grabbed Gilbert shaking him as if he was trying to force answers out of him.  You could tell by the look in Gilbert’s eyes that he was about to snap.  The last thing you need was the two of them fighting in the middle of your house.

“Dad calm down, you are doing it again.” you mumbled to your father pulling his hands off of Gilbert.

“I can’t help it look at this guy.  Red contacts dyed white hair!  Why would you even be interested in a guy like this?” your father said looking at you before glaring at Gilbert.

“Hey I was born like this!” Gilbert yelled at your father.

“Red eyes how stupid do you think I am!” your father yelled while you continued to pulling him away from Gilbert.

“It runs in the family.” Gilbert yelled back at your father who froze looking at him surprised.

“Albinism?” you father said surprised looking at Gilbert who simply nodded.  You were finally able to let go of your father knowing that he forgot for the moment that Gilbert got you pregnant.

-----------------Time Skip--------------------

Finally after nearly three hours of embarrassing questions you Gilbert left your house.  You knew for sure that Gilbert and your father didn’t like each other at all.  There were times that you thought they were going to get into a fight.

“I don’t like that boy.  He’s not good enough you.” your father said while the two of you ate dinner.

“I know dad.” you mumbled.
